Again, I am combining two challenges and using a favorite paper from K&Company from their Susan Winget collection. This paper has been around for a long time and I have to admit that I hoard this particular design.
I also used papers from My Minds Eye (Lime Twist) and from The Paper Company. I used Distress Ink (Worn Lipstick); Studio 18 bling; a Martha Stewart border punch and a very old Spellbinder’s Die that I got at a paper crafters garage sale!! The stamp was a gift from Verve. Here we are at the deadline for Mojo Monday’s Challenge (mojomonday.blogspot.com) once again. And I missed The Shabby Tea Room Challenge which provided the color scheme. Last week’s plan to have my card ready early in the week was pushed aside by the finishing of my daughter’s birthday gift. I got two little 6 inch x 6 inch paper pads at TJ-Maxx, of all places. I had to call my sister in Greenville, SC to tell her to run over to her local store and see if they had any of these because they were very inexpensive. I am usually more of a pastel kind of gal but these included a couple of my favorite brights: apple green and turquoise. Continue reading
My oldest daughter had a birthday this past week but the family isn’t getting together until this evening. Thank goodness we are all going to meet at a restaurant for dinner in honor of the occasion!! I decided to get back into the swing of things and relish the ambiance of my “new” craft room by doing some challenges. Shortly after I finished one and stopped to make dinner, my DH explained that he needed to either go out and buy a card for his SIL or resort to an ECard. I noticed that my photo of the jar of hydrangea didn’t show the Glossy Accents very well so I decided to give you a little closeup of how this product makes the jar look like glass and, in this case, even looks like there is a little condensation on the jar. How many times did my mother or I grab a canning jar to fill with beautiful blooms from our yard? No one ever noticed the utilitarian jar under the weight of the gorgeous blossoms, the fruit of our labors in the garden. This card is reminiscent of those days.
One of the interesting things about this card is the paper I used. Other than my Core-dinations pastels, the patterned paper is by Paula Deen! (I wonder if it’s fattening??)
