I decided to get back into the swing of things and relish the ambiance of my “new” craft room by doing some challenges. Shortly after I finished one and stopped to make dinner, my DH explained that he needed to either go out and buy a card for his SIL or resort to an ECard. He thought he’d send the ECard ’cause he didn’t really want to spend any $$. I told him he could have my latest creation… after all, he actually had paid for it in many ways!!
These are two favorite challenges and, for once, I didn’t miss the deadline for entry! I figured if I did them on Monday and posted them on Tuesday there would be no way for me to miss the Sunday evening deadline! I continually get mixed up on the different time zones…
And here is the sketch from Mojo Monday (www.mojomonday.blogspot.com) and the color inspiration from The Shabby Tea Room (www.theshabbytearoom.blogspot.com). I wanted so desperately to add that little touch of blue you see in the photo but the challenge notes said to use cream, white, beige and pink. Their general rules tell you to use their listed colors and you may also use neutrals which, in this case would have been black because they already called for beige and cream and white… all considered neutrals. After I made my card, I checked some of the ones made by others on their blogs and, don’t you know, they used the blue!! I’ll know better next time, won’t I?!!
Paper: Tim Holtz Vintage Shabby (pink), double-sided beige paper from my stash… Ink: Distress Inks in Vintage Photo and Worn Lipstick… Tools: Cricut embossing folders, Fiskars cutting tools, Tim Holtz distressing tool… Embellishments: Stamp Simply Ribbon Store lace (pink & white; a prize won from their blog… thanks, Sharon!), Joann’s lace (beige), Webster’s Pages Cameo stick pin (purchased from my friend, Milu, at her Ebay store, miluscrapbooking), tiny heart pins from my stash, seam binding bow, pearls from Recollections and Studio 112
While you are here, how about sending me a little love in the form of a comment!! You know I love it! Blessings and Hugs, Ya’ll…
I find it hysterically funny that Doug would go out to buy a card! Like buying a cake from Krogers, when your spouse is a pastry chef.
Doug doesn’t like to do anything that might make him look dependent on someone else. Like needing me to make a card for him…. “hysterically funny” is one way of describing it. I must say, though, that he praises me to the skies for my efforts!
Charlotte, what a sweet card! I truly love the softness and feminine special little touches, like the lace, stick pins, cameo and pearls. Absolutely gorgeous! Hugs and blessings, Sabrina
I’ll have to agree with Sharon!! Sweet friend I wanted to peek in and tell you hello! You are always on my mind even though I’ve been very quiet over the past many months. I love your creation here – craft on!!
Thank you, Becca. Having you visit my site will forever keep the old adage about “always putting your best foot forward” at the forefront of my mind. The day I put up a card-in-a-hurry I get a visit from the person I admire most in the paper crafting world!! There were about five more things that needed to be done to this card for me to feel like I had put my best foot forward. Hope you will visit again sometime!!
What a lovely card Charlotte. The papers and lace are gorgeous!
How sweet and kind of you to visit, Monika! Thank you for the encouragement; I hope you will do a return visit soon…
Thank you so much for playing along at TSTR this week! Your card is lovely!
This is one of my favorite challenges!! Always such delightful inspiration photos…
