Dad’s Day … VLVJun2012Verve

I had a little catching up to do on my Viva La Verve Challenge.  With this card, I am up to date and ready for a new sketch.  I have gotten lots of very nice feedback in the form of comments from folks who peruse the galleries at Splitcoast Stampers where we have to link our work from our own gallery to Viva La Verve’s gallery.  Gives a girl a warm fuzzy feeling!  There is so much to see there; other’s work, tutorials, swaps, special offers from suppliers…

Below is the sketch we were to follow for the second card in the challenge.

The entry for today is a card I made for my husband.  I have to really switch mental gears when I start to do a masculine card.  At first it feels awkward and then I get into it and find it just a little easier than the more feminine cards.

I had seen a tutorial for making the paper flower just this morning and was anxious to have a reason to try it out.  Its raggedy look was something I added on my own when I found myself heading in a Steampunk direction with the card.

The paper for this card came from the DCWV Tattered Time collection.  Even my  paper for the flower came from this collection.  I distressed some of the paper with my Tim Holtz Paper Distresser but only added Black Soot Distress Ink to the edges of the flower.  The center of the flower is a brad from Spare Parts by Paper Studio; my sentiment is a from Viva La Verve and it is inked with Momento Ink.

I’m all prepared now for a nice Father’s Day… my husband loves my cards and getting one is all he would want as a gift, I’m told.  However,  I am having a neighbor boy come and mow the lawn tomorrow so Doug won’t have to do it for this one special weekend.

Now I’d like to hear from you.  Your comments are always highly prized and appreciated.   I hope your weekend is amazing!

About Charlotte Zweigoron

Married, retired, never been so busy..! One of my most prized possessions is my very own craft room! And, actually, all the rest of our home is built around that craft room. Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. I have been living in Georgia for over thirty-five years after a four year stint in Chicago. Crafting, reading and playing Mah Jongg with our circle of friends are my favorite activities right after spending time with my four grandchildren and four great-grandsons. Two of my three grown daughters and one of my two grandgirls live right across the yard from my husband and I. The youngest daughter, her husband, and our grandpups live in our same town. I have been teaching a paper crafting class for over three years and the ladies in the group have become a second family. We are well and truly blessed with people and critters to love..!

Does Doug know how lucky he is????

    • Nooo, the card is still propped up in front of his place mat at the breakfast table! When is he going to sit down and eat!?! He was appreciative of the lawn having been cut so he could be lazy yesterday and today.
