Mojo Monday – MOJO199

Birthday Gear

Having realized that it is Mojo Monday and I want to enter a card, I also realized that we have a guy friend with a birthday this week!  What luck!

Now I have a double incentive for this card.  The M in the corner is the gentleman’s initial.  I flip-flopped the position of the round elements from the design.

This is almost 100% Tim Holtz:  the Alterations Gadget Gear die, the Alterations Scallops and Postage border dies, the Distress Stickles in Rock Candy and Antique Bronze, Distress Crackle Paint in Tarnished Brass,  Tim Holtz Seasonal paper, Game Spinners,  Sprocket Gears and Ranger Glossy accents.

I added a button with twine and Spellbinders Mega Nestabilities Small Deckled Mega Rectangles, both cut and embossed, to display my Birthday message stamped with yet  another Hampton Arts stamp from the $1.00 bin at Michael’s.  I used Momento Timber Brown ink.  The larger paper gear was from a piece of paper I had been experimenting on with a foiling technique that left it kind of dotted with different colors of metal flakes.  I never throw that stuff away!!

It was fun getting back into the Steam Punk look of the Tim Holtz designs.  They are so great when a masculine card is needed.   I hope our friend enjoys it as much as I enjoyed making it.

My pleasure!! My two grandsons (27 and 22) think it is really too cool that their grandma is into steampunk… I’m looking forward to next week!

This is a perfect masculine card and/or piece for anyone who is a fan of “steampunk.” I like how you popped out the gears and other pieces to give this so much dimension. Cool card!

  3. There is a challenge going up on Papercraft Star for Steampunk. I immediately thought of your project! I hope you will come play along!
    Kindest regards,
    Jennifer
