Doggie for Jade

DogforJade copy

My granddaughter, Jade, doesn’t get to see my Chihuahua, Sara Lee, very often and she loves that little dogggie!  She had a puppy for a while but it turned out that her mother was very allergic to the dog and they found it another home.  Jade’s puppy and my Sara Lee were litter mates and we had gotten them at the same time.  The love she had lavished on her puppy was now focused on Sara Lee.  Jade misses my dog so I told her I would send her a photo of Sara Lee and decided to do it as a card. A Ladies’ Diary Gift Box

Ladiesbox2

Ladiesbox

Graphic 45, as I have mentioned, makes some of the most beautiful papers in the industry and I am totally hooked on them.  Not only that, I seem to have the good luck to win papers and embellishments from them on a fairly regular basis!  It drives my sister crazy…

One of their collections is A Ladies Diary and I have been waiting for some time to find something I felt deserved these beauties.

Then I saw a tutorial for an Origami box made from one sheet of 12 x 12 inch paper.  There are several tutorials for this on YouTube but I was introduced to it by The Gentleman Crafter.  This gentleman’s work is fabulous and unique.  I incorporated his ideas of the close-fitting, double layered lid and the wheel & bead handle in my project.  I have also made the bottom of my box more sturdy so that it can be used rather than just being decorative. Banner For My Little Beauty

JADEcard

This is a card I made for my little granddaughter, Jade, some time ago.  Even though I couldn’t get things on my blog, I could still make cards!

This was an experiment in using paper from one paper pack rather than a number of different paper sources to simplify my process.  After all, the designers make all the papers in one pack to coordinate with one another so why strain my brain if I don’t have to? Continue reading

Send Me A Letter – MOJO Monday #275

Communication 002 copy

I’ve always loved doing the challenges at MOJO Monday (www.mojomonday.blogspot.com) so, with my effort to get back into the swing of things, I looked them up and this is the result.  I made the card instead of eating dinner so I have plenty of time to get this entered before the end of the challenge at 12 p.m. EST tonight.

Here is the sketch I followed: Continue reading

Such A Lucky Girl!!

May Arts Christmas Challenge

It has happened again!!  I won another roll of that beautiful silk ribbon from May Arts with my entry into their December Christmas Challenge!  This time I asked for a roll of their deep pink silk ribbon; almost 33 yards of the stuff; a value of about $45… Winning it is a very luxurious experience, I must say.

There is a larger view in the original post.  Take a look and let me know you are still out there!  I love hearing from you!!

Be Still and Know – MOJO254

For whatever reason, I had a difficult time with this card…  I think it might be the weather; rainy and grey.  But after a few struggles, I think I got pretty cheery and felt it come together for me.

This is for the Mojo Monday Challenge Continue reading

Through Rain or Shine – May Arts Silk Indulgence Challenge

May Arts sells some of the most beautiful ribbon ever!!  My favorite is their silk ribbon (which can be tricky to find even on-line).  So, when they came up with a challenge where they would actually send you the ribbon to do their challenge, I was right on it!!

You had to send them a written proposal of what you would make and, if they liked your idea, they would send you 2-yard-lengths of your choice of 4 different silk ribbons.  The number of challengers would be limited to 25.

Lo and behold, I got a package with silk ribbon in it a week or so later and wondered when in the world I had ordered it.  I couldn’t find an invoice and was still puzzled when it finally dawned on me that my idea had been one of those chosen and here were the ribbons for it!!!   Continue reading
