Last weekend my DH’s company had a dinner at a 4-Star restaurant in downtown Atlanta. I had my attire all picked out when I realized that my purse is about the size of a steamer trunk… All of my other small bags were either too glitzy or the wrong color. This would not do.
I had several of the long, oval balsa boxes from the $1.50 bin at Michael’s waiting to be dressed up for the Holiday Bazaar. I also had about 15 minutes to be out the door! So, I added some wooden dowel pieces that I had from my miniatures supplies to keep it from rolling around, stuck my lipstick, a tissue, a couple of mints and a small pen inside and off I went.
The way the little box sat at the edge of my plate without taking up much space and yet containing everything I might need while at the table made me very happy with my choice. Of course, the bag containing half of my worldly possessions and necessities was locked in the trunk of my car in the parking lot should any sort of disaster occur.
Upon leaving, the steamer trunk purse was retrieved and kept me comforted by its near presence and fullness all the way home. And, all the way home, I daydreamed about how I would like to decorate the little box for my next sojourn to a big city restaurant. That box in my waking dream has materialized into the box shown here. It’s my Chopstix Box
