Thank you, Mary Sunshine!

I really love spending hours strolling through craft stores and seeing all the new products for paper crafting.  I go crazy for beautiful embellishments and will have to live to at least beyond 100 to use what I already have.  (All gotten on sale, mind you.)  Some of them are things I have made and some are things I bought so that I would have an example to work from when I am ready to make  my own.   Continue reading

Steampunk Baby

And here we have baby stuff revisited.  Doesn’t look like baby stuff to you?  Well, it is… at least for the generation that is into Steampunk and Grunge.  Bye, bye Beatrix Potter; hello Harry Potter.  My new little great-grandson’s mama does most of her baby shopping on Etsy so that they can get the style that suits their taste.  Being a bit of a Steampunk fan myself, I am all about it.   Continue reading

How About You?

I was copying my challenge photos from my three favorite challenges this morning when a thought struck me.  What could YOU do with one these color combinations or this layout?  Make something for in miniature, alter a frame or an odd bit you find at the thrift store, sew up an apron, paint a picture, do a sketch….  make a card or a scrapbook page?  Let’s see what is on offer today to play with. Sewing Circles – MOJO223

I’m still working on getting back to my pre-Christmas, pre-bazaar schedule.  One of my favorite things has always been the weekly challenges presented by the three websites on my sidebar.  I missed out on the deadline for The Shabby Tea Room but I had used their color inspiration and Mojo Monday’s layout to create the card shown here which I did manage to finish before the deadline at Mojo Monday and get entered.  I actually used the color inspiration from The Play Date Cafe for my Celebrate card from a few days ago.  I just loved the colors from the inspiration photo although I knew there was no time to enter the card in their challenge. Each of the three challenges are shown below. Continue reading

Celebrate Your Wings

It has been just over a week and I have finally managed a card!  So many new choices of materials to work with after Santa’s visit…  Of course, one has to take into consideration that, after so many weeks, I think I have forgotten almost everything I knew about photographing the card properly and working on it in Photoshop.    Continue reading

It’s A New Dawn And A New Day – 2012

No pictures today.  This is my clean slate spot for the new year.  I cannot tell you how happy I am that we are on the uphill slope to Spring!  Even if it was 29 degrees outside my house last night.

My craft room has been cleared of all Christmas ephemira; it has been thoroughly cleaned and reorganized; plans for new and better ways to know exactly what I have in all those boxes and drawers are being implemented…  Now back to the drawing board, literally! Continue reading

My Mini Christmas Shoe

A lovely friend named Sharon called my attention to the need for more of the Mini Victorian Shoes my sister and I have been making.  So, this is my recent addition to the collection of mini shoes to hang on the tree.  Thank you, Sharon, for this and other great advice and support!

Once again I remind you that if you click on the photo, you will get a more detailed look at the photos in my posts.   Continue reading

Turquoise Sparkle Shoe

Now we have another shoe…  It is what I’m working on this week so it is what you are seeing.  Mostly Victorian shoes and decorated boxes.  This one I am calling the Turquoise Sparkle Shoe.

The little oval in the front is the two-sided picture mat with a little silver bird in a bird cage charm.   Continue reading

Black Victorian Shoe

This shoe is also an album containing three pages with room for 2 pictures on each side.  There is also a double-sided mat tucked into the toe of the shoe for two additional pictures.  One could add a gift card as well, if one were so inclined.  The sole of the shoe is signed by me, has a tiny heel and an embellished tag that says “Dream”.  Here are views of the pages, the sole and the toe insert with its little gold charm.

In the middle of the handmade (by me) satin flower is a little gold shoe and the inside heel has a gold, white and black cameo. Continue reading

Blue Flowered Box

Lots of crafters on YouTube had been talking about the balsa wood boxes in the $1 bin at Michael’s and doing videos of the beautiful things they made of these little boxes.  So, here is one of my creations made with my all-time favorite paper.   Continue reading
