Remember this one? This is the card I opened my website with back in May.
You cannot imagine the layers on this card! Let me run it down for you:
there is a background music themed paper, then the piano keyboard paper edged with lace patterned paper, then a gold imprinted vellum and finally the keynote paper across the middle of the card with the stamped image on it. On top of that, two tiny tags with the definition of “music” on one and the statement “Music is love” on the other, next is a layer of lace, ribbon, pearl and rhinestone flourishes… and the final layer of clustered mulberry flowers.
This was also done at my very first paper craft and scrapbooking Meetup. I didn’t know anyone, so I had hours to play with the elements, move them around and come up with a card I was satisfied with. Nowadays, I spend a lot more time chatting with my fellow Meetup members and I would never be able to concentrate enough to do a card like this! These days I take stuff that needs to be mass produced and hand cut so I can talk and work at the same time.
I came home from my Meetup this past Friday evening and there in my email was a “sold” confirmation from my etsy shop (www.miniwonderfulthings.etsy.com). What a rush… knowing someone wanted MY creation. I almost didn’t want to let it go and would have made a duplicate to send but there was no time. The customer needed it ASAP and it was all I could do to finish the interior… they stipulated that it was for an anniversary… and get it in the mail Saturday morning with my best wishes that the recipient would be thrilled when they got it and a fond farewell to my handiwork.
Alas, it is gone… but I shall make another. They always wind up being just a little different each time I attempt to recreate a certain card but that is a good thing… New ideas popping and flashing in my brain fill my dreams and I wake up running to the craft room first thing. Ahhhh, life is good!
I do remember that first card. Congratulations!
Ann
I was so nervous and sooo excited getting it ready to ship! Your encouragement has helped so much! Hope to see you on Wednesday. (Help me not be at Sandy’s table!…Actually, I’ll just have to tell her the truth…)
Gorgeous card! The layers are beautiful and flow together perfectly. Congratulations! ~Sophia
