With one thing and another over the past 9 months, my paper crafts class has acquired a truly lovely group of ladies who like to spend as much time chatting with one another as they do crafting… kindred spirits, one and all!
In our July session, I wanted to try something a little less structured; something that involved personal creativity. I had already seen, again and again, little sparks of creativity that excited me as their teacher. The ladies, however, kept referring to these sparks as “mistakes”. The fact that others in the class looked on, sympathized about the “mistake” and then incorporated it into their own project didn’t seem to faze them in their determination to call it a “mistake”. What’s a teacher to do?!
I was so pleased when I came across the stamped sentiment that so perfectly stated what I had been trying to demonstrate in class. I hope everyone takes it to heart.
With a less structured project, prone to depending on happenstance, I hoped they would get a sense of that sentiment. It worked!! We had always been a gregarious group but now you could feel the electricity in the air.
So much so that I was encouraged by them to add a “makeup” class at the end of the month so we could let some of those that had missed out on the fun have their shot. Interestingly, even those that had already done the techniques for this project joined in for the second try. I will show the results of that makeup class in my next blog.
This post is a view of the second piece that we made in that first class in July. We had made a second sheet of the stained glass effect just as Vivien Keh (contadinak.com) did in her YouTube video tutorial and used it to make this second tag.
Blessings and hugs, ya’ll…!!! Do let me hear from you…
